Massimiliano Allegri is currently on a mission to revive Rafael Leao’s career, following an inconsistent season, and a journalist claims he wanted to do the same with Theo Hernandez.
Hernandez’s departure from AC Milan was announced yesterday afternoon, though it had been coming for quite some time. With Al-Hilal offering €25m to the Rossoneri and around €20m per year to the left-back, it was difficult for all parties to say no in the end.
Of course, Milan already had their minds set on selling the Frenchman before they entered into advanced negotiations with Al-Hilal. That’s also why the arrival of Allegri didn’t change much, as highlighted by a journalist.
It was too late for Allegri
In an interview with MilanNews, Corriere della Sera’s Monica Colombo discussed various topics relating to Milan. Regarding Hernandez, she said that Allegri would have liked to work closely with the left-back to try to put his career back on track.
“I think Allegri would have wanted to do the same [as with Leao] with Theo if given the chance, but when he arrived at Milan, certain decisions had already been made.

“Not only the sale of Reijnders, but also the desire to part ways with Theo. His behaviour over the last year, in addition to his performances, led the club to make that decision. Of course, the €25m offered from Al-Hilal also played a part,” she stated.
