Emerson Royal only needs to complete the medical tests and sign the contract with Flamengo to complete his move to the Brazilian side. However, as a journalist warns, that might be easier said than done.
After reaching an agreement with Flamengo at €9m plus an additional €1m in bonuses, Milan will be looking to reinvest that money elsewhere on the mercato. However, first Emerson Royal must pass his medical tests for the Brazilian side.
Last season, the right-back missed almost the entire second half of the season (23 games) due to a calf injury. And he only recovered at the end of the campaign, resulting in no playing time since January this year.
Manuele Baiocchini’s warning
Speaking live on Sky Italia yesterday, as transcribed by Il Garante, Baiocchini was asked about Emerson Royal’s move to Flamengo and how it will help Milan. He made it clear, however, that nothing is done yet and some advanced tests await the right-back.
“Emerson Royal will undergo medical tests tomorrow [Saturday]. This is not a routine medical because he had a significant injury in the last season. Flamengo want strong guarantees regarding the player’s physical condition,” he stated.

All Milan can do, as such, is wait for the outcome of the medical tests. It would certainly be typical if the 26-year-old were to fail the tests, but the feeling is that his recovery from the injury went according to plan (with no consequences).
