Liverpool continues to show interest in Alexander Isak, who has expressed his desire to leave Newcastle - the Reds have already had an initial offer for the Swedish player turned down.
They proposed a total deal worth £120million, but this was rejected by their Premier League counterparts. The Magpies value Isak closer to £150m, having seen him become one of Europe's top No 9s since his move to St James' Park.
Despite already spending well over £200m, Liverpool could still shatter the British-transfer record for the second time in a single summer. Their transfer endeavours will be boosted by additional funds coming into the club, and former manager Jurgen Klopp, now Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull, plays a significant role in their recruitment.
Bild reports that Klopp is particularly interested in bringing Harvey Elliott to RB Leipzig, with the Englishman expected to make a move this summer. Despite having options to stay in England, the German, who brought Elliott to Anfield back in 2019, wants to entice him to the Bundesliga.
Elliott's reputation has grown this summer after an impressive performance at the U21 Euros with England, where he was named Player of the Tournament. He is being targeted by clubs such as Brighton and West Ham, but Leipzig offers him the opportunity to play abroad, reports the Mirror.
Liverpool is reportedly seeking a hefty £50m for Elliott, who only made two Premier League starts last season. This sum would be pure profit and significantly boost their transfer funds, potentially paving the way for a renewed bid for Isak.
Germany has proven to be a fertile ground for English talent. The likes of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, both of whom made their mark at Borussia Dortmund, exemplify how a stint in the Bundesliga can do wonders for a player's career.
The 22 year old is aware that his next move needs to be a calculated one. He recently stated: "If I had it my way, I would be here for the rest of my career, it's as simple as that. I love everything about the club. But at the same time, I kind of need to be selfish with myself and see what's best for me.
"I have big ambitions, I want to get in the World Cup [squad], keep being successful as a player. I think it's still something I need to review, I need to have a talk with everyone and review the situation. Obviously we have many new players that have come in, so whether it blocks the path for me, I'm not sure. It's something for me to decide and have a look at. As I said, just review the situation."
