Juric speaks about Atalanta issues, ‘great’ Milan team and game plan: “Built to win”

The calendar has not been too kind to AC Milan recently, and they will play their third game in nine days against Atalanta tomorrow.

There is a lot that can be said about the season so far, and despite another frustrating result at San Siro – this time against Pisa – a lot of good can still be seen. Ultimately, Milan are suffering with several key injuries.

Those injuries can not be an excuse, though. After all, it was the club’s decision to build a limited squad, at least in terms of numbers.

Tomorrow’s game, then, offers a chance to bounce back instantly, with the hope of returning to the top of the league, where they are only one point away at this point. Given that Napoli play in the early kick-off, they will know beforehand if it is possible.

Juric comments on Atalanta-Milan

Massimiliano Allegri spoke this morning about the game, and now Ivan Juric has given his thoughts about tomorrow’s clash, via MilanPress.

“With Carnesecchi, everything is cleared up. The heated comments can be taken badly: the approach was wrong, but now we’re moving forward. De Roon re-adapted to defense? He can play that role well, working as a midfielder: it’s not a surprise, he did very well.

“Kolasinac is growing, but he’s not ready to return yet. Scamacca? I’d like to play him, but we need patience. Lookman is very much part of the team: we’ve created a lot in the last three or four games. We’re missing a goal. I see Krstovic getting better and better; he’s getting a lot of touches. We’ve also been a bit affected by injuries.

Marten De Roon

“Kossounou will start; I really liked him against Slavia. We’ll decide whether to play with or without a striker. De Ketelaere? I didn’t want to play him against Cremonese, but I saw him well and changed my mind.”

Milan’s set-up…

“I didn’t like the first half in Cremona. We’ve lacked a bit of brilliance lately. In the second half, we were better at building. How do we contain Milan? They’re a great team, built to win. We’ll have to contain them with focus and clarity, but without giving up our game.

“De Roon won’t play in defense, but in midfield; then we’ll see how ready Kossounou really is. It’s crucial for us to have subs who come off the bench quickly, like Brescianini against Cremonese.”
