Pierre Kalulu believes that his former side AC Milan are ‘fortunate’ to not have to think about European football this season.
Milan and Juventus didn’t serve up a calcio classic quite like the 4-3 win that the Bianconeri had against Inter a few weeks ago at the same stadium. However, it was quite an entertaining tactical duel between Igor Tudor’s side and Massimiliano Allegri’s men.
In all honesty, the Rossoneri will probably feel like they should have got all three points on the balance of play in the second half, after a very cagey opening 45 minutes. Christian Pulisic failed to convert a penalty, and Rafael Leao missed some big chances too, so a goalless draw was the end result.
Kalulu spoke at a post-match press conference following the full-time whistle to assess what was a hard-fought stalemate for both sides. His comments were relayed by MilanNews.
Another draw…
“It was a tough match, against a very strong and confident opponent. There were chances for both sides to score. We’re not satisfied with this point, but we have to take it and focus on the next one.”
Do you like that wing-back role?
“Everyone has their preferences. I can score a few more goals in that position: my goal is to be as complete as possible, so in a month or two, maybe you’ll see me and prefer me higher up the pitch rather than as a defender.”

What is your aim?
“Staying at the top, it’s always like this. Then the coach responds.”
You won the Scudetto with a Milan side that conceded only two goals in ten games. Do you see a similar team this year?
“It’s always tricky to talk about opponents, because I’m not one of them. They’re fortunate not to have any European football, so they can be a little fresher. I’ve seen a few Milan games: they’re very careful defensively and have a lot of attacking quality with players who can make the difference on their own.”
What kind of a season are you seeing so far?
“I always prefer a season like this, where any team can lose points to anyone. All the games are great to watch, where you never know who can win. At this point in the season, everything is still wide open.”
