Liverpool is facing a significant summer overhaul with five key players potentially departing Anfield, including Mohamed Salah, as Arne Slot looks to address the club's difficult season

Liverpool has struggled to mount a defence of its Premier League title.
The Reds may look to the transfer market this summer to refresh their squad. Arne Slot's inaugural season at the helm of the Reds appeared almost too good to be true, and perhaps it was. The Dutchman stepped into the role vacated by Jurgen Klopp with remarkable ease and cruised to a top-flight championship.
This season has told a completely different tale, with the club enduring a dismal run of nine losses in 12 matches toward the end of last year. The Reds currently find themselves fifth in the league standings with a fight on their hands to secure Champions League qualification. Slot's squad received significant reinforcement last summer with the additions of Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Florian Wirtz, among others.

Liverpool.com has examined who the Reds might retain, offload and bring in come the summer.
Alisson Becker — KEEP: Alisson developed into one of the planet's finest goalkeepers at Anfield, and while he has reached 33, selling him in the summer does not seem sensible. His contract runs until 2027, so a decision should be made then.
Giorgi Mamardashvili — KEEP: It appears premature to dismiss Mamardashvili. While he hasn't been spectacular when deputising for Alisson, at 25, he has time to develop and has featured only 13 times thus far.
Joe Gomez — KEEP: Gomez epitomises loyalty. Like certain other squad members, he's advancing in years, but a player with such versatility is rare, and he should continue as part of the first-team rotation. It would be unfortunate for him to net his maiden senior goal in different colours.
Virgil van Dijk — KEEP: Liverpool's skipper may have displayed signs of decline this campaign, but he remains an essential component both on and off the field. Similar to Alisson, the club ought to wait until his contract expires in 2027 before making any judgment.
Ibrahima Konate — RELEASE: Konate's contract expires this summer, and the club should allow him to move on. At 26, he has demonstrated certain vulnerabilities, and given the salary he'll demand, Liverpool would be better served developing another center-back alongside Van Dijk. Jeremy Jacquet's impending arrival from Rennes provides further justification for Konate's departure.

Milos Kerkez — KEEP: Kerkez's debut season at Anfield hasn't met expectations. However, the club should grant him time to adapt to performing at Liverpool's level.
Conor Bradley — KEEP: Bradley's campaign was cut short after sustaining a serious knee injury during the Arsenal fixture. Upon his recovery, he remains a valuable defensive asset and is still just 22 years old.
Giovanni Leoni — KEEP: Similar to Bradley, Leoni has also missed a substantial portion of this season through injury. He could emerge as a challenger to Jacquet for a starting position next term.
Andy Robertson — RELEASE: The Scotland international has achieved cult status on Merseyside throughout his spell, but his contract concludes this summer. As with Konate, the club ought to permit him to depart with dignity and select his next club.
Jeremie Frimpong — KEEP: Frimpong represents another recent acquisition hampered by fitness issues, but his blistering speed and attacking menace suggest he should continue as a crucial first-team figure next season.
Kostas Tsimikas (on loan) — SELL: Tsimikas is presently on loan at Roma, and his displays have been inconsistent. With his contract running until 2027, the club should seek to secure a transfer fee this summer.
Wataru Endo — SELL: Endo's deal also expires next year, so Liverpool must avoid losing him for nothing and attempt to sell when the transfer window opens.
Florian Wirtz — KEEP: The Germany international endured a difficult start to life as a Liverpool player but has subsequently found his rhythm. His creative abilities will prove vital for the Reds' upcoming campaign.
Dominik Szoboszlai — KEEP: There's no question that Szoboszlai has been Liverpool's outstanding performer this season. His contributions from set-pieces and his readiness to drop into defense make him indispensable.
Alexis Mac Allister — KEEP: Unlike Szoboszlai, Mac Allister has endured a difficult campaign. However, he will need to adjust to Wirtz shouldering some of the attacking responsibilities, and it's premature to sanction his departure.
Curtis Jones — SELL: One player who could be moved on is Curtis Jones. While bidding farewell to an academy product may be difficult, any transfer fee would represent pure profit, and other midfield options hold greater appeal.
Ryan Gravenberch — KEEP: Slot managed to extract decent performances from Gravenberch in a holding role last season, but he has been deployed slightly higher up the pitch this term, which has at times proved costly for Liverpool. He shouldn't be sold as he offers valuable squad depth, though it may be time to invest in a genuine No. 6.
Trey Nyoni — KEEP: Nyoni has demonstrated considerable promise in his appearances for Liverpool, and while a loan move could be considered, he may benefit more from remaining at the club.
Harvey Elliott (on loan) — SELL: The young Englishman's loan stint at Aston Villa has been disastrous, and the club may be able to recoup a reasonable fee for him in the summer.
Alexander Isak — KEEP: The Swedish forward has been sidelined since sustaining an injury during a victory against Tottenham earlier in the season. He stands as the most expensive British signing in history.
Mohamed Salah — RELEASE: The legendary Egyptian has confirmed his departure from Liverpool this summer.
Federico Chiesa — KEEP: Chiesa hasn't yet broken into Slot's starting line-up and may never do so, but he can still offer the Dutchman a reliable option from the bench.
Cody Gakpo — SELL: While it might seem unlikely to offload Gakpo, he is one of the club's top earners but doesn't perform as if he is the long-term answer on the left wing. He could command a reasonable price, which could be reinvested in a marquee winger.
Hugo Ekitike — KEEP: In Isak's absence, Ekitike has proven to be an outstanding acquisition. He is one of the first names on Slot's team sheet when fit.
Rio Ngumoha — KEEP: If Szoboszlai has been the star of the season, then Ngumoha has been the hidden gem. The teenager looks set for a bright future at Anfield and could be the successor to Salah that the club needs.
