‘Keeping alive with constant contact’ – Moretto confirms Milan are working on Juventus striker

AC Milan continue to work under the radar on signing Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus, but the right conditions must emerge.

It is no secret that Milan are working to sign a new centre-forward, and the name that has been linked above all others for weeks now is that of Vlahovic. He worked with Massimiliano Allegri previously at Juventus, the club that no longer deem him part of the plans any more.

However, there is a big obstacle to overcome: while Juve are willing to offload him the €12m net per year salary is huge. Thus, an economic meeting point needs to be found between all parties, which is never easy when rival clubs are involved.

‘Working behind the scenes’

During the daily video update on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto took stock of the hunt for a new striker and he outlined what the situation is regarding Vlahovic at present.

“AC Milan have been working behind the scenes for several weeks, and we were also among the first, the very first, to report it here on the channel. They are working behind the scenes for Dusan Vlahovic,” he said (via MilanNews).

“This is a lead that Milan is keeping alive with constant contact with the entourage, but it is still a lead that Milan wants to seize if this type of solution could truly become a market opportunity. And by market opportunity I mean that from a financial standpoint it could be an accessible solution for Milan.

“So we will need to understand how much money Juventus will ask for Vlahovic, knowing that Vlahovic has a contract expiring in 2026 and a very high salary. Vlahovic will not renew and if he doesn’t leave this summer he will leave Juventus for free.

“So Juventus are aware that they have a problem at home. So Milan is taking their time. Vlahovic is waiting for this type of profile to become an opportunity. However, they’re also working on other profiles, other names, at the same time.”
