Key quotes from the first interview of each Milan signing this summer

2 days ago 32

AC Milan have signed seven players so far this summer and all of them, obviously, have expressed great enthusiasm about joining the club. So, what are the key quotes from each of them?

Just two weeks remain of the transfer window and with seven signings in the bag, Igli Tare and Milan are working on the final pieces. Above all, a striker will have to be signed (Hojlund is the favourite for now) and some sales will have to be made.

The signings who have been announced, however, have hit the ground running a few of them should even feature against Bari tomorrow. As such, we thought it would be a good idea to highlight the key quotes from each player’s welcome interview, which is always done with the club.

You can find all of the interviews in full on the club’s website, but we have picked out the quotes that stood out to us (two paragraphs each). The common theme is that they all recognise the value of this shirt and where Milan deserves/should be.

Ricci

“There are so many emotions. I have to say that I have never been so nervous as in these days. It goes without saying that it is an honour; we all know what kind of club Milan is. The expectations are also high: it is an important year; I will do my best to repay the trust that has been placed in me.”

“I still have to improve on a lot of things. I think this is the right place to improve: you compete with important players, among the best in the world, and it’s the best way to mature and improve. On and off the pitch, I’ll always be myself, very balanced, as I am off the pitch, I’ll also be on the pitch, and I think I’ll be able to give Milan a hand.”

Modric

“Milan can’t be satisfied with mediocrity; we need to set ourselves the highest possible goals: winning titles and competing with the best teams in the world. That’s why I’m here.

“First and foremost, I come with a lot of respect for everyone: players, coaches, and the club in general. I want to bring my hunger to win, help my teammates in every way, and work hard to earn my place in the team. It’s never easy, you have to work hard and fight.”

Terracciano

“Milan must already have ambition within itself. When you represent such a big club, you can’t help but have ambition. I hope to integrate immediately and be able to help out on the pitch and in the dressing room.

“Maignan? It’s a great pleasure. He’s a fantastic goalkeeper. I’ve played against him a few times, and every time Milan won, thanks in part to his saves. It’ll be a huge pleasure to see him, and I’m curious to get to know him. I can’t wait to get started.”

Estupinan

“It’s a dream come true. I’m joining a very big club like AC Milan, and I expect to win a lot, be happy, and make the fans happy. I’m really looking forward to working with the team. I promise I’ll give my all and work hard to make the fans happy.

“I’m happy to play alongside a top-class player like Rafa Leao: I’ve always watched him. I’ll definitely learn a lot from him, and I’ll try to help him in my own small way to strengthen the left flank.”

Jashari

“When I saw that Milan were interested, I felt proud, but it was the project they presented to me and my family that pushed me over the line. So when I decided I wanted to come to Milan, I gave my word: it’s always been a dream since I was a child. In my family and among my friends, Milan has always been talked about… The dream has come true.

“Italian inspirations? Definitely Roberto Baggio and Andrea Pirlo. I liked the way they played; technically they were really good. Their final passes, how creative they were… These are things I try to bring into my own game. So I’ll tell you about these two.”

De Winter

“San Siro? The first time I came, I was truly impressed by how big it is and how loud the fans are. I even remember the song the fans sing during the warm-up… It’s the most beautiful stadium I’ve ever seen in my life, and playing there wearing the AC Milan jersey will be even better.

“Allegri? He’s the coach who gave me my debut. For me, he’ll always be one of the greats. I have so many memories; they were my first moments among the greats. Now I’m happy to have meet him again.”

Note: Zachary Athekame’s interview with the club hasn’t been released yet, for whatever reason.
