Kirovski backs Oddo and explains Milan Futuro project: “Field young players”

Jovan Kirovski, who is one of the key figures in the Milan Futuro project, was interviewed by Italian media before the clash against Chievo Verona on Sunday afternoon.

Kirovski has been heavily criticised in his role in charge of the Futuro side, following the relegation to Serie D. Among other things, his inexperience in Italian football and the decision to keep Daniele Bonera as the head coach infuriated many.

Speaking to Vivo Azzurro TV ahead of today’s game against Chievo Verona, as transcribed by MilanNews, Kirovski shared his thoughts on the project. He also made it clear that they are speaking with the first team every day for a seamless integration.

On Oddo and the project…

“With Massimo, we have a coach with great experience in all categories. He also played for AC Milan, and that’s important. We have a clear strategy for our project: to field young players. Yesterday, for example, in the Primavera team, there were eight players born in 2008.”

How is the relationship with the first team staff?

“We all work together every day. Our staff speaks every day with the first team staff, including the Primavera team. We work together every day.”

Obviously, the goal is to be promoted to Serie C this season but as highlighted by Oddo, they will learn a lot from the Serie D too. It will also allow them to field more of the youngsters rather then relying on ‘overage’ players.
