Kirovski explains why talented trio Dutu, Sia and Ibrahimovic Jr. left Milan: “The number one objective”

In January, AC Milan parted with a number of young talents, including Maximilian Ibrahimovic, who has been around the first team for a few years. 

It is nothing new for young players to be sold. After all, the academy cannot always produce first-team-level players, and when opportunities arise, it may be best to make sacrifices. Of course, it is never ideal, and with young talent, it is always a risk.

However, Milan will feel confident with the decisions made this year, especially with them retaining control, in some part.

With Max Ibrahimovic, the buy option is worth €3.5 million, but there is a future sale clause inserted, too. Indeed, if he takes off, it would only be a good thing for all parties. With Diego Sia, too, his exit is only a loan deal, so the future remains there for him at Milanello.

Kirovski explains the youth departures

As the Sporting Director of the Futuro, Jovan Kirovski discussed the reasoning for their departures, and his words to MilanTV have been relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“Maxi [Ibrahimovic] played very well, we had an opportunity to take him to another level, and so okay, we sold him to Ajax.”

“Last year he played in the Primavera and then in the Futuro, we thought that another level was stronger for him.”

Sia’s loan departure to CD Mirandes…

“For Diego, too, it would have been better to play at a different level in Spain. But the number one objective is the first team.”
