Simon Kjaer was asked about AC Milan’s struggles in the last few seasons, and although he provided an answer, he couldn’t provide the full picture amid ‘confidential’ information.
Kjaer played for Milan between 2020 and 2024, arriving at the same time as Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The two were essential in bringing the Rossoneri back from the ruins, eventually winning the Scudetto with the team in the 2021-22 season.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Kjaer said that he’s happy as Milan are ‘back to being Milan’. However, when asked about why the Rossoneri struggled so much especially last season, the Dane didn’t want to say more than that there have been ‘too many changes’.
This chemistry wasn’t there in 2024-25. From the outside, what happened?
“For me, there have been too many changes. At every level. I won’t say more because I would have to talk about things I know from my friends, and this is confidential. Of course, I was hurt like all the fans, and now I’m much better,” he stated.
We can only speculate on what he means exactly, but with time, we will surely find out more about what went wrong last season. At least the arrival of Igli Tare and Max Allegri have changed things for the better, with a top-four finish now firmly in sight.
