Despite being almost 40 years old, Luka Modric can still play a big part for AC Milan next season, and Toni Kroos has admitted as much.
There are certainly a few doubts present with the deal to sign Modric. After all, his role at Real Madrid has certainly been toned down recently. However, his quality is still undeniable and he can still be an asset off the pitch.
With no European football, the demand on Modric should not be as high, but he still clocked almost 3,000 minutes across all competitions this season in 60 games, so far, showing there is still gas left in the tank.
Kroos’ praise
It is not just the Rossoneri who think that there is still something left to give with Modric, though. Today, his former teammate Kroos has spoken about his situation and the imminent move to Italy, and his words to Sportsweek have been relayed by MilanPress.
“Modric can make the difference at Milan. Modric will never lose his qualities with the ball and the rest, I have no doubts because he has always been a special player. Obviously, he is not physically what he once was; that’s normal. He is about to turn 40, so it’s normal that he is not at the level he was at 30.

“That’s why he has played little by little less in recent years, that’s normal too, but he continues to play, he holds up well and gives his contribution. I think the most important thing is that he is still enjoying the life of a footballer, not only on the pitch but also off it.”
