Juraj Kucka has admitted his surprise that Luka Modric joined AC Milan, but also revealed that he would love to play alongside him.
Modric might have come Serie A at the age of 39 and recently turned 40, but he continues to defy the logic of age. He has been nothing short of a revelation since he arrived at Milan, and he leads a lot of the stat categories for midfielders in the league.
Massimiliano Allegri put him quite literally in the middle of his tactical set-up, as the deepest-lying midfielder in a 3-5-2 system. It means that he can the tempo of the match and also have an influence on both phases, given his defensive work in reading the game too.
Kucka gave an interview to MilanVibes in which he spoke about a number of topics, from his comment about Rafael Leao walking around the field, to the summer signing of Modric.
Would you have liked to play in a midfield with Modric and Rabiot?
“Immediately. Even with one leg.”
Did you expect Modric to still be so effective?
“First of all, I didn’t expect him to go to Milan. I thought he’d retire after Madrid or return to Croatia, but instead… I was surprised by his arrival at Milan, and I’m very happy. You never lose quality… and he has great quality, so I’m not very surprised.”
