Kylian Mbappe is a big fan of former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who continues to be linked with the Real Madrid job.

Los Blancos are on the hunt for their next manager after firing former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso earlier this week. Another former Red, Alvaro Arbeloa, has replaced Alonso at the Bernabeu, but it's thought Madrid could make another change this summer.

Reports in Germany suggest Klopp is a leading candidate for the Madrid job if the Spanish club decides to appoint a new coach once the season ends. It's claimed the legendary Liverpool boss would seriously consider becoming Madrid's new manager.

If Klopp decides to join Madrid, he'll be coaching some of the best players in the world. The team's star-studded roster includes the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vincius Junior, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo, Federico Valverde, and Mbappe.

And the latter has already shown his admiration for Klopp's style of play. Mbappe once described Liverpool's 2019-20 Premier League title-winning team as a "machine."

Speaking to BBC Sport in 2020, Mbappe said: "What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing. They're like a machine, they've found a rhythm and are like, 'We play again, we play again.' They've lost zero games.

"When you watch, you think everything's easy, but that's not easy. The guys are focused, they play games every three days, and they win, they win, they win.

"Now the problem is that everybody watches Liverpool, and everybody watches what we can do against them, so now they have to show they are strong again, but it's a very good team with a very good manager."

Mbappe was even once linked with a move to Liverpool to play under Klopp. "We talked a little bit, but not too much," the World Cup winner told The Telegraph in 2022.

"We talked a little bit. I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favorite club of my mum; my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her! It’s a good club, and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco, I met them. It’s a big club."

It's easy to see why Mbappe admires Klopp. The German coach spent most of his playing career with Mainz before becoming the team's manager upon retiring in 2001. He secured promotion to the Bundesliga during his seven-year spell in charge of Mainz.

Klopp became Borussia Dortmund's manager in 2008 and led the team to two Bundesliga titles, two German Super Cups, and the 2012 German Cup. Dortmund also reached the 2013 Champions League final, losing to Bayern Munich at Wembley.

After a brief break from management, Klopp took over at Liverpool in 2015. He achieved even more success in England by winning the Premier League title, Champions League, FA Cup, Community Shield, European Super Cup, Club World Cup, and two League Cups.

Liverpool's Premier League triumph in 2020 was the club's first league title victory in 30 years.
