There were two experienced defenders linked to AC Milan on deadline day weekend. However, others remained in the background.
Throughout Saturday and Sunday in the lead-up to deadline day, there were a few open tracks. A central defender, a central midfielder and a central forward: the tree, as Fabio Capello refers to it. However, they ended with only one parameter completely sorted.
A striker did not arrive, but Adrien Rabiot joined the club late on Monday night, with a three-year deal agreed. Then, there was the central defender. One has arrived, David Odogu, but there are questions about him.

The Kimpembe idea
Manuel Akanji was the first name, and then Joe Gomez, then the Rossoneri were ‘forced’ to change their direction, and the German defender was settled upon. Though it seems they were not the only ideas present on the final weekend.
According to L’Equipe (via MilanPosts), the Diavolo actually considered a move for PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe, and showed interest in a move for the Frenchman. However, nothing came of it, perhaps due to timing, though this is not specified.
The 30-year-old would have ticked several boxes, given he has a heap of experience, as well as being a left-footed player. Perhaps it will be an idea to revisit in the future, though, it remains to be seen.
