There is another issue to be concerned over, with AC Milan midfielder Adrien Rabiot set to be rested for France.
The news of Rafael Leao’s return to Milano this morning probably had many concerned. However, the national team confirmed that the decision was due to his condition, rather than an injury. As we know, the Milan star is still not 100%.
He is not the only one, though, who has had to be looked at this break.
Rabiot misses training
Last night, as L’Equipe relays, Didier Deschamps gave an update on Adrien Rabiot, who was substituted in the 70th minute after scoring against Azerbaijan. The head coach confirmed that he will not take part in a group training session before their game against Iceland.
“As a precaution, because of a slight sensation in his calf, a knock he must have taken. We’ll give him more time.”
The fact that the coach repeated twice that the decision was precautionary is a strong thing; it pretty much confirms that there is nothing major to worry about. Whether he will return early remains to be seen. Alternatively, he could play in that game after a rest.
In the past, he has struggled with calf problems here and there during his time with Juventus. However, it has never been anything major; this should remain the case here.
