Throughout the summer mercato, many suggested that AC Milan did not have a proper striker. Now, that theory is being proven true.
There is a lot that can be said about Milan’s season so far. A lot of it is positive. However, the lack of goals from their strikers is a worry. Of course, goals have come from Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic, who have played as strikers.
However, they are not No.9s, they are wingers. So, Massimiliano Allegri’s wish for a proven striker is only looking more apparent with each passing day.
Romano’s update
Santiago Gimenez has been given a few months to get himself going for the year, and the Rossoneri generally. Whilst Christopher Nkunku’s start to life has been disappointing. So, with the January window approaching, a striker is on the wishlist.
Today, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on his YouTube channel, and his words on the future have been relayed by Radio Rossonera.
“The lack of a real striker seems increasingly evident. Nkunku arrived during the summer, but the traditional number 9 is a lack that AC Milan is suffering from. This is why more and more attacking names are being linked to AC Milan. Today, the AC Milan case for Lewandowski doesn’t hold up. The other name that has emerged is Strasbourg’s Panichelli, who is doing very well.

“From what I understand, Panichelli was being monitored by AC Milan before he went to Strasbourg. The French club is not selling the player in January; he is absolutely untouchable and unsellable.
“Panichelli will not leave in January, there’s no question about that. We’ll see who AC Milan’s striker will be in the summer; it will certainly be a different matter, but as of now, Strasbourg doesn’t want to sell Panichelli.”
