Landucci discusses half-time changes, Allegri’s mood and Pulisic’s impact

Marco Landucci took charge of yesterday’s game against Torino, and he has kept his 100% record in charge of AC Milan.

Massimiliano Allegri was suspended for yesterday, after his red card against Lazio last weekend. However, he was still present at the game, and was seen getting animated from the stands – did anyone expect different?

There was a lot to be frustrated by in the opening stages, too. Ultimately, Milan were not good enough and the scoreline showed as much. However, goals from Adrien Rabiot and Christian Pulisic turned the game around, and the Rossoneri are back at the top of the league.

Landucci’s post-Torino comments

The game serves as a reminder that performances are required against every team in the division and the Diavolo have to be stronger to avoid having to rely on comebacks. For now, though, the focus is on the positive elements and Landucci spoke to MilanNews after the game.

Can you tell us what happened at halftime?

“There wasn’t much to talk about, there was work to be done. We kept the lads calm, not just me but the entire staff. We calmed them down, changed a few things tactically with Rabiot and Loftus’s moves behind Nkunku.

“Then we raised the quality level and managed to turn the game around. This team has a truly remarkable spirit and group.”

Allegri left a minute before the end… Did you hear him?

“Maybe they called him up, but not with me. I haven’t seen him yet, but he’ll definitely be happy with the win. Then we’ll also think about the mistakes, because in the first half we had a half-and-half approach.”

What gives this victory?

“When you win with difficulty, it’s even more beautiful. Tomorrow we’ll rest, then we’ll focus on Sassuolo: we can’t afford to underestimate anyone, but this team has humility to spare.

“Pulisic had a fever of 39 the other day, and he was crucial to today’s victory.”

He said this is the best group he’s ever had… Can it also become a winner?

“We’ve had so many great groups, in fact, I’ve already been criticised a bit for this. We’ve always had very good groups, with good players. Games are won with strong players.

“This group has a dedication, a desire to work: we had some uncomfortable pre-season trips and other groups would have been angry… We’ve found a connection.

“One of our strengths is that we always manage to create a positive atmosphere; we’ve done it everywhere: it gives us advantages, and we try to find the positive in everything.”
