Marco Landucci, AC Milan’s assistant coach, spoke to the media ahead of Udinese-Milan as he will be in the dugout instead of Max Allegri.
Milan clinched an important 1-0 win against Bologna last time out, and tonight, they can make it three consecutive wins. Allegri’s assistant coach, Landucci, will be the one leading the team from the sidelines tonight due to the former’s red card.
Speaking to Sky Italia before the game, as transcribed by MilanNews, Landucci admitted that it would be much better to have Allegri in the dugout instead. The 61-year-old also praised both Christian Pulisic and Santiago Gimenez.
On replacing Allegri…
“It’s not the same, it’s better if Allegri is there. I have to do it on Tuesday too. Max from the bench is an added value: I hope these are the last two times.”
Is this match a turning point, as Allegri says?
“It’s very crucial. We’re playing against a team that’s not only physical but also technical. Udinese always plays tough games. They’re coached by a very good coach who does simple but effective things: he has strong players and physicality. They’ll start very strong, and we have to start even stronger.”
On Pulisic…
“Christian is a great player, he’s a goalscorer. We think he can be an added value to this team. Ruben Loftus-Cheek wasn’t sent to the bench due to any demerit; he’s doing very well. In today’s football, five substitutions are crucial.”
On Gimenez…
“He’s playing very well. For a striker, scoring is the icing on the cake. He’s doing very well both in training and in matches, he’s putting himself at the service of the team, and I think he’ll score.”
Allegri has made two changes to the starting XI, though there are no surprises as Pietro Terracciano is replacing the injured Mike Maignan, while Christian Pulisic rightfully is back from the first minute. There are also some good options on the bench.
