Leao’s 2025 could be over after sustaining upper thigh injury – Landucci’s words

It was not all good news for AC Milan in their comeback win against Torino, as Rafael Leao left the field with what looked like a muscle issue.

Not long after Adrien Rabiot’s goal had made it 2-1, Leao attempted a wonder goal of his own with an effort from 25 yards out, but he dragged his attempt wide of the far left post.

Moments after that, it became apparent that the Portuguese had sustained a problem while letting go of that shot. He walked over to the dugout holding his groin and was brought off, with Samuele Ricci replacing him and Ruben Loftus-Cheek going up front.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Leao came off in the first half after feeling a problem in his right groin, perhaps the upper part of the adductor. Now, the question becomes whether or not he has suffered a serious muscle injury.

An MRI scan will provide a response in the next 24-48 hours, but at the moment it can safely be presumed that his 2025 may well be over, and that he will only return in the new year.

After the game, Marco Landucci – who stood in for the suspended Massimiliano Allegri – spoke to Sky. He was asked about Leao’s condition, and replied as follows.

“Leao will have tests tomorrow morning, he’s got a problem with his adductor. We hope it’s nothing serious. We won’t know anything until tomorrow.”
