Lecce’s sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has shed some light on why they were so keen to bring in Francesco Camarda from AC Milan.
Camarda’s departure from Milan should be complete in a matter of days, with Lecce confirming a medical has been booked with a post on their social media on Saturday. It is not just going to be a dry loan either: there will be an option to buy and a buy-back in Milan’s favour.
Despite the inclusion of those clauses, the striker obviously remains a crucial part of the Rossoneri’s future plans. However, it does give Lecce a bit of an incentive to play the teenager, given that they would get a ‘development fee’ of sorts with the buy-out and buy-back.
‘Quality has no age’
Corvino gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport and he gave a brief comment about Camarda, suggesting that the head coach Eusebio Di Francesco will have no problem playing him.
“I’ll just say one thing: you shouldn’t take Camarda’s age into account. For me, quality has no age,” he said (via MilanNews).

Speaking a few days ago, he added: “He has great potential. We have Krstovic in that position. We wanted to bring in a player with #amarda’s characteristics and we’re convinced we’ve made the right choice.
“Signing a player like this from Milan on loan with an option to buy and buy back is no mean feat, but it’s also a deal that allows us to capitalise. We believe in what this player can bring us.”
