Liverpool and Manchester City are both in the race to sign a Brazillian wonderkid who is already making waves at senior level for his current club.
The Reds are among the shrewdest operators in European football, with every transfer move meticulously planned. Yet, while some Premier League rivals have grown increasingly adept at identifying young talents from Brazil, Argentina, and Ecuador, Liverpool have traditionally lagged behind.
However, reports suggest that Liverpool is now intensifying its scouting efforts in South America, with a particular focus on Brazil. In their search for the continent’s top young prospects, the club has reportedly identified a promising but tricky midfielder it is keen to explore signing.
According to Globo, Liverpool has set its sights on a potential future star, Fluminense’s Isaque Severino Silva. However, the Reds’ pursuit of the 18-year-old may be facing the same hurdles as their hopes of signing Alexander Isak, with progress reportedly stalling.
While Liverpool reportedly joined Manchester United in expressing interest in the young midfielder, it has yet to take any concrete steps toward a deal.
Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, known for their success in the Brazilian market, has also been linked with the youngster, with a bid of around $8 million reportedly rejected by Fluminense.
Shakhtar’s bid was rejected amid mounting interest not only from Liverpool but also from City, who have reportedly made enquiries about the attacking midfielder without submitting formal offers.
Born in Sao Carlos, Isaque Severino Silva is regarded as one of the brightest talents to emerge from Fluminense’s famed Xerém academy, catching attention despite limited first-team experience.
The 18-year-old made his professional debut in December 2024 and has already become a key figure in Brazil’s youth setup.
In February, Fluminense extended his contract until 2029, underscoring their commitment to the player who played a pivotal role in the club’s “Esquadrilha 07” generation that won both the Copa do Brasil and the Campeonato Brasileiro U-17 last year.
During the U-17 Copa do Brasil, Isaque scored six goals and provided four assists, helping guide his team to victory.
Liverpool.com says: Liverpool’s interest in Isaque Severino Silva is intriguing but feels premature. The teenager is undeniably talented, yet he has minimal senior experience.
Liverpool will need to move decisively if they hope to land him. At this stage, any pursuit seems more about scouting for the future than an immediate solution—patience and careful planning will be key.
