Liverpool returns to Premier League action with a trip to Nottingham Forest. We caught up with Florida-based Reds fan Morgan O'Sullivan ahead of the game at the City Ground...

What have you made of recent results? Has Liverpool truly turned a corner?

Recent results have shown some hope and progress, but you are always nervous. Consistency has been the overall key this season and we will have to wait a few more weeks yet to confirm all is back to where we would like things to be. The old adage of one game at a time is all we can do.

Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez have been in good form. Are we starting to see what the plan was last summer?

It was always going to take time for the new signings to settle into the team. While time has gone on now, it could be argued that there should have been a more gradual transition, particularly for Milos Kerkez, when Andy Robertson was always available.

The price tag on Florian Wirtz demanded that he had to play, and it has taken him time. However, he has grown increasingly confident and strong in recent games. We are starting to see a special player who has the potential to go on and be a mainstay in the team for years to come.

How much pressure does Arne Slot remain under in terms of his future?

Arne Slot is under the spotlight. To win the league and then proceed to spend as much as we did was always going to create a vast amount of pressure.

The big names that departed last year should not really have had such a drastic impact on the squad. Trent Alexander-Arnold was a great player, but he was ultimately in and out of the squad last year.

Darwin Nunez was popular with the fans, but Hugo Ekitike has proven to be an upgrade. Luis Diaz is the one who would still be able to justify his position, but the rest of the team from last year has largely been available to choose from.

The midfield balance has been a struggle. Too many players have not been at the same level. The impact of the Diogo Jota tragedy has to be taken into account, though. You do not become a poor team overnight, and that should be remembered.

There is still a lot of football to be played, and it would not surprise me if we went on a run and finished third. However, whether that will be enough to secure and protect the manager, I really do not know.

He achieved an incredible feat last year in winning the league, but after spending so much last summer as a club, he may need to earn some silverware for job security.

Xabi Alonso has been mentioned for months, and it is largely assumed that he was the first choice when Jurgen Klopp moved on.

If he was the first choice then, and FSG are the strong and efficient unit that we have come to learn, from a business perspective, he may very well still be their first choice. Results and trophies will dictate the future for Arne Slot.

What should the expectation/target be for Liverpool for the remainder of the season?

Qualifying for the Champions League is the minimum target for the club. So much depends on that in terms of revenue and attracting the right calibre of player and such. However, I sense the manager will need to finish third and also secure a trophy in order to secure his position.

Anything else to mention?

It has been a tough season so far, but all is not lost. We are progressing well in the FA Cup, and anything can truly happen in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Last year, we were top of the league in January and finished top of the league stage in Europe. PSG were nowhere to be found.

Then, like a light switch, things changed for them. They conquered Europ,e and Ousmane Dembele won the Ballon d'Or. Why can't it be Liverpool and Mohamed Salah or Florian Wirtz this year?
