Liverpool fans have shown their support for Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian forward deleted references of the Reds on his social media.
Since August 15, Salah has managed just one goal from open play across the Premier League and Champions League. Earlier this week, his profile picture and header on social media platform X featured him in Liverpool colours, but these have now been changed — his profile picture now shows him with his children, and the header has been removed entirely.
Despite some criticism from sections of the fanbase over his recent form, the majority of Liverpool supporters continue to back the 33-year-old, showing loyalty to one of the club’s greatest modern icons. It comes after Arne Slot broke his silence on the Salah situation.
As the Reds kicked off against Brentford, Liverpool fans could be heard singing Salah's Egyptian king song which echoed around the Gtech Community Stadium in solidarity with the winger.
Speaking on Friday, Arne Slot made it clear that he views the Egyptian no differently from the rest of his Liverpool squad. "It’s a difficult moment for all of us," the Liverpool head coach said.
"No one is used to losing - for all the players that have played here for many years, and even for the new players as well. We started the season with seven wins and that a difficult moment for everyone, let alone if you lose four times."
On Salah's form, Slot added: "I don't know if it's sharpness or not. It's so difficult for me to say why this is – I could come up with a few reasons, which I'm not sure that is the reason. But I think in general, in football players miss chances, and Mo is a human being as well.
"We are not used to him missing chances, let alone a few in a row, but these things can happen. What could have to do with it, I have no clue if it does, but I could come up with if it's easier to finish a chance if you are 3-1 up than if you are 1-0 down.
"But maybe that is completely not true for him. But the main thing is Mo has always scored goals for our club and the last thing I worry about is Mo starting to score goals again because that is what he has done his whole life.
"That is what I expect him to do in the upcoming weeks and months for our club as well."
Liverpool.com says: Fans rallying behind Salah shows just how much he means to the club. Even during a dip in form, supporters recognise his years of brilliance, leadership, and loyalty.
