Swedish striker Alexander Isak suffered a serious leg injury during Liverpool's recent victory at Tottenham and is expected to be out of action for several months

A former Premier League boss has heard that Alexander Isak could return to action in "four or six weeks" after suffering a broken leg.
Isak picked up the injury while scoring Liverpool's opening goal during the 2-1 victory at Tottenham earlier this month. The Swedish striker, who has scored just three goals since his £125 million ($169 million) transfer from Newcastle to Liverpool during the summer, was clattered into by Micky van de Ven while striking the ball for his goal against Spurs.
Isak was diagnosed with a broken leg following the game and needed surgery to resolve the issue. It's feared he could be out of action for several months due to the severity of the injury, with Liverpool refusing to put a timeframe on his return.

"With Isak, I heard four or six weeks, which for a broken leg seems a little bit short," Wyness told Football Insider's Inside Track podcast.
Yet Wyness also suggested it'll be difficult for Isak to get back up to speed this season. He added: "But he’ll still be out of game time, and he hasn’t got going this whole season because of lack of game time.
"And so I think it’ll be very hard for him to make an impact this season."

Liverpool broke the British record transfer fee to bring Isak to Anfield earlier this year. The former Borussia Dortmund star, 26, arrived on Merseyside with a big reputation, having scored 54 goals in 86 Premier League games for Newcastle.
Yet Isak missed Newcastle's preseason while trying to force a move to Liverpool, meaning he wasn't match fit upon his arrival. That, coinciding with Hugo Ekitike's impressive form, made it difficult for Isak to hold down a starting role in Arne Slot's team.
Isak started to gain some momentum heading into the Christmas period. He scored his first Premier League goal in the 2-0 win at West Ham on November 30 before finding the net again three weeks later against Spurs. Both goals were instinctive finishes.
While the Reds have refused to put a timeframe on Isak's return, Slot expects the player to be sidelined for longer than four weeks.
"It's going to be a long injury, for a couple of months," Slot said just before Christmas Day. "It's a big, big disappointment for him and, as a result, also for us."
If Isak can recover within four weeks, he might be available for Liverpool's game against Newcastle, his former club, on January 31.
If it does take Isak two months to make his comeback, the game against West Ham on February 28 might be his return date.
