Liverpool given Andrea Cambiaso transfer hope as Juventus boss makes admission

3 hours ago 26

Juventus boss Igor Tudor reckons Andrea Cambiaso has what it takes to wear a Liverpool shirt in the future.

The versatile defender was strongly courted by Premier League side Manchester City during the summer transfer window, with Pep Guardiola keen to bolster his left-back options, though no agreement was reached. Cambiaso, who is tied to the Allianz Stadium until June 2029, has made two Serie A appearances this term, contributing to the team's rise to second place in the table.

Despite receiving his marching orders on the opening day of the new season, the 25-year-old has largely caught the eye with his performances. Addressing the media before Juventus' encounter with Atalanta on Saturday, Tudor was quizzed about whether Cambiaso could operate in midfield.

According to Italian publication Il Bianconero, the Juventus chief responded: "He could play as a winger; he has a different mindset, he sees the game as a midfielder too.

"He needs to be more consistent; he's potentially a player for the best clubs in the world, but he has to decide.

"If he decides, he can play for Real Madrid, Liverpool, or Manchester City."

While Tudor is convinced Cambiaso possesses the quality to represent "the best clubs in the world," Liverpool might find it challenging to lure him away from Turin.

During a chat with Corriere dello Sport in October 2024, the Italy international revealed Juventus represents his dream destination.

"History of Italian football, a second family and a massive point of arrival in my career," he said. "Only being linked with a club like Real Madrid feels like something bigger than me.

"I am proud of the admirers I may have; it's motivating to know that somebody appreciates you, but I haven't received any proposal.

"In any case, Juventus are my Real Madrid. I've extended until 2029, and I want to stay for as long as possible."

Liverpool's next game is against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

"Part of me is thinking that Liverpool are going to click soon and just absolutely annihilate someone," former Premier League striker Chris Sutton told BBC Sport while making his prediction for the game, 0-0.

"At the same time, I just don't think that is what will happen against Palace.

"Palace got the better of them on penalties in the Community Shield, and while I am not sure you can read too much into that, I am going for another draw this time."
