Liverpool is already working diligently ahead of what looks set to be another busy summer of transfer activity. The Reds already have tangible results from their endeavours after securing two signings who could prove crucial in the years ahead.
It would come as a considerable shock if Arne Slot's squad were to replicate the huge sums splashed out on new recruits last summer. Nevertheless, the Merseysiders are clearly not waiting around while rivals snap up potential targets.
Consequently, chief executive officer Michael Edwards has already approved two new acquisitions for the summer with plenty of time to spare. Both possess significant appeal in terms of their potential contribution to Slot's defensive line in particular.

The centre-back will arrive at Liverpool from Ligue 1 side Rennes following a £60m agreement reached in January between the two clubs.
There was speculation at the time that Jacquet might have transferred during the winter window, when Liverpool's backline appeared vulnerable. Instead, however, it was decided that Rennes would retain the 20 year old's services for a further six months.
Slot might regret not pushing more aggressively for a January transfer, especially considering the subsequent events in Jacquet's career trajectory. This includes the shoulder fracture he sustained against Lens in February, which he successfully underwent surgery for this month.
With a projected recovery period of eight to 12 weeks, it could mean Jacquet arrives at Anfield in less than optimal condition. However, his impending period of inactivity reduces the likelihood of him suffering a more severe injury outside of Liverpool's supervision.

Another confirmed incoming transfer for Liverpool is set to bring another centre-back to the club. However, Austrian under-18 international Ifeanyi Ndukwe is viewed as a longer-term prospect, given his tender age of just 18.
Despite his youth, the towering 6'6" youngster has carved out a key role within Austria Wien's reserve team. The teenager has clocked up 10 appearances in Austria's second tier this season, although he is yet to make his senior debut.
Since his move to England was finalised, Ndukwe has begun to feature more frequently on the bench for Austria Wien. However, that coveted first-team debut continues to elude him for now.
He has also progressed from Austria's under-17 squad and stepped up to under-18 duties this season. He made two under-18 appearances in back-to-back friendlies against Portugal last month, with one ending in a 1-0 defeat and the other in a 1-1 draw.
