Liverpool has 'every encouragement' to swoop for Alexander Isak after transfer bid

1 week ago 42

Liverpool's focus is firmly on Sunday's Community Shield clash with Crystal Palace as they gear up for the new season.

However, chatter about the transfer window and the Reds' ongoing chase for Alexander Isak continues to dominate. The Swedish forward returned to England this week after training with his old club Real Sociedad while his Newcastle colleagues were away on their pre-season tour.

Liverpool has already had a bid rejected for the striker, who is eager to move on, with rumors suggesting that the Magpies would need to secure a replacement and receive an acceptable offer before sanctioning a deal.

Benjamin Sesko was seen as a potential successor to the Swede, and the Magpies had their second bid for the Slovenian accepted.

However, they face competition from Manchester United, and the 22-year-old has reportedly expressed his preference to join the Red Devils.

Here are some of the latest Liverpool transfer rumors....

Barcola speculation

Liverpool is interested in Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola.

Reports from French outlet L'Equipe suggest that the Reds are keen on signing either Barcola or Real Madrid star Rodrygo before the summer window shuts on September 1.

It's reported that Liverpool have "been following him for a long time" and could attempt to lure him to Anfield. The 2025 Champions League winners forked out €50 million ($58.4 million) to bring Barcola from Lyon two years ago.

The report suggests that they're unlikely to let him go for less than €100 million ($116.8 million) to a direct rival for the Champions League.

Isak 'encouragement'

According to ChronicleLive's Lee Ryder, Liverpool has "every encouragement" to submit a second offer for Isak, following the rejection of their initial £110 million ($147.1 million) bid just days ago.

However, the main issue is that Newcastle has found it challenging to finalize its own deals, making it tough to let a key striker depart.

Potential replacements linked with a move to St. James' Park include Leipzig's Sesko, Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, and Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson.

The Magpies, however, seem set to lose out on Sesko to Manchester United, while Villa have made it clear that Watkins is not up for grabs.
