Liverpool will be hoping for a more fruitful return to action than the one it experienced after the last international break, when Manchester United claimed a first win at Anfield in almost a decade.
That loss to United was Liverpool's fourth in a row in all competitions, and the team also went on to lose three of its next six games.
There were encouraging performances in the week leading up to the November international break, as Arne Slot's men recorded victories over Aston Villa and Real Madrid, but the overriding mood at the moment is a gloomy one after a 3-0 loss to Manchester City 10 days ago.
This weekend sees Liverpool host a Nottingham Forest side that has experienced an upturn in form since Sean Dyche replaced Ange Postecoglou in October.
Forest has won three and drawn one of its last five games in all competitions, but Slot's men are still the heavy favorites to claim a much-needed victory that could take them back into the top four.
Worryingly for Slot, two Liverpool players go into the game with the risk of suspension hanging over their heads.
Premier League players who pick up five bookings across the opening 19 games of the season are handed a one-game suspension, with the threshold then increasing to 10 bookings across the opening 32 games (any player who receives 10 cautions will receive a two-game ban).
We are only 11 games into the season, but Dominik Szoboszlai and Conor Bradley are already on four Premier League bookings each, meaning they could be walking a suspension tightrope for the next eight games.
If either man picks up a booking against Forest on Saturday, that would see them miss the following game, away to West Ham on November 30.
The only other Liverpool player to have collected more than two yellow cards in the league is Milos Kerkez, who has been cautioned three times for his new club.
Liverpool has picked up the joint-fourth most yellow cards in the division this season, with 23 yellow cards having been dished out to Reds players across the opening 11 games of the campaign.
Ryan Gravenberch, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk have each been cautioned twice, while Florian Wirtz, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo have had a booking each.
On a positive note, Liverpool is one of 12 clubs yet to have a player sent off in the top flight across the opening months of the season.
