A Liverpool return is one of the last things on Jurgen Klopp's mind right now, despite Arne Slot's ongoing struggles to replicate last season's form.
That's the suspicion of former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann, who does not think that Slot will be under any real pressure to leave Anfield any time soon.
Slot has presided over seven losses in Liverpool's last 10 games, with the most recent defeat coming away to Manchester City on Sunday.
Earlier this year, Liverpool went to the Etihad Stadium and won 2-0 to take a huge step toward the title, but nine months later Slot's men were on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline as City appeared to confirm its status as Arsenal's primary challenger for the title.
Despite there being plenty of chat about Slot's position at Liverpool among pundits and fans, the Dutchman's position at the club is not currently under threat, nor will it be any time soon.
Suggestions that Klopp could return to Anfield are more than a tad far-fetched, and ex-Red Hamann touched on that as he gave his view on the managerial situation on Merseyside.
"First of all, Slot won't go or won't have to go any time soon," Hamann told footballblog.co.uk. "I think the Aston Villa result has changed the mood at the club.
"As well as that, Klopp always emphasizes how happy he is. I don't think he's got too much interest at the moment managing again.
"I don't think the question will occur because Slot will stay there for quite some time and I hope he does. I think Klopp is pretty settled in with Red Bull, he’s making a few changes.
"There's a few managerial changes at Red Bull clubs at the moment, so I think he's heavily involved in that and I think it's one of the last things on his mind at the moment, coming back to Liverpool and managing."
Klopp said in an appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast last month that it was "theoretically possible" that he would one day return to Liverpool, but in another interview with The Athletic earlier in October, he said that he was enjoying his current role as Red Bull's Global Head of Soccer.
Asked whether he 'was waiting by the television for the games to begin' at the beginning of last season, Klopp responded: “Not at all. I was super happy with the way Liverpool performed. I watched some games. But it is not like, ‘Oh, it’s Saturday!’
“I didn’t know when games started. I was just out. I played sports. We enjoyed life, spent time with the grandkids, completely normal stuff, knowing I will work again. But knowing as well, that I don’t want to work as a coach anymore."
Asked whether he believes he will never be a coach again, Klopp responded: “That’s what I think. But you don’t know. I’m 58. If I started again at 65, everybody will say, ‘You said you’ll never do it again!’ Er, sorry, I thought 100 per cent (when I said it)! That is what I think now. I don’t miss anything [about being a manager].”
