Liverpool should have three players back available following the conclusion of the international break, but Jeremie Frimpong is set for a scan to determine the extent of the issue that forced him off as he represented the Netherlands.

Frimpong lasted just 12 minutes after coming on as a substitute against Ecuador in Eindhoven earlier this week. Dutch head coach Ronald Koeman was unable to provide a concrete update at the final whistle, and Arne Slot said on Wednesday that Liverpool is still awaiting a full prognosis.

"Jeremie, the national team doctor of the Netherlands tells us that it was precautionary that they took him out," Slot told club media. "But he will have a scan later today to see."

Elsewhere, Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa are expected to be available on Saturday as Liverpool takes on Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker, though, who was absent prior to the international break, will be out for a "bit longer." Giorgi Mamardashvili will maintain his starting place as a result.

And Alexander Isak, who broke his leg in December, should be back in team training later today, with a view to potentially being involved in the matchday squad as an option to use off the bench.

"I think Alex is in a really good place because Sweden qualified for the World Cup yesterday evening and apart from that he's going to train with the group again for the first time tomorrow," Slot said.

"If you've worked so hard for three, four months or something like that and then to return to team training, that's for everyone very nice. So Alex is, in that sense, in a good place.

"Of course it's only his first session, after three or four months [out], with the team, but it's good to have him back because we all know who we signed and we've signed an incredible striker.

"So to have him again in a team that's usually generating quite a lot chances — and maybe not immediately from the first moment that he can start — but to have him back for the last two months is, I think, very helpful for us."

Wataru Endo, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni are all long-term absentees. They are not expected to play again this season.

Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai could be switched back into that role for upcoming matches with Manchester City and PSG, though Joe Gomez is another option to play there.

Between games against PSG in the Champions League, Liverpool also has an important Premier League meeting with Fulham in which it needs the points to cement its spot in the top five places.
