Liverpool's new jersey has been leaked ahead of next season, and the retro design has divided fans as it looks similar to a kit from the 1990s worn by Ian Rush and John Barnes

The new Liverpool home jersey for the 2026-27 season has been leaked online, and fans believe it has a striking resemblance to the classic Candy shirt from the early 90s.
Liverpool restored its jersey partnership with Adidas ahead of this season, after previously collaborating with Nike, New Balance, and Warrior. Adidas created some classic Liverpool jerseys in the past, including the iconic Candy strips, worn by legends Ian Rush, John Barnes, and Alan Hansen.
While this is expected to be the last season Standard Chartered appears on the front of Liverpool's jerseys, it's believed Adidas will go old school next season. A Reddit leak claimed to show the home jersey for next season, and fans gave differing views.

The collar is slightly different from the retro jersey, as is Adidas' logo.
Of course, Liverpool is also sponsored by Standard Chartered, not Candy, but there are many similarities between the two jerseys. Fans reacted on Reddit, and while most failed to see past the high $160 retail price, others complimented the jersey.
"It’s like the old Candy kit from the early 90s. I like it, but wish they’d go with the trefoil," one fan wrote. "That's actually really nice-looking," another added.
"I personally like this one, and will be getting either itself or the 89’-91’ kit which it is based on. Was born in ‘91 so have been eyeing that kit for some time," a third fan wrote.
"The shoulder stripes are weirdly thick but I like the design and color," another said. However, others weren't a fan of the new jersey, with some not enjoying the retro look back in the early 90s.
"It's a lot cleaner than the earlier leaks. Still not the biggest fan of this design, but I also am not a big fan of the original 80s version," one fan wrote.

"I wish they’d make something original instead of a rehash of older jerseys... There’s literally 0 creativity gone into this," another added. One fan, clearly frustrated with Liverpool's season, hoped the team could bounce back while wearing an underwhelming jersey.
"After having a dope kit but a poor season, I don't mind a poor kit and a dope season tbf," they wrote. Liverpool is still in a prime position to secure a Champions League spot this season, especially after qualification in England was extended to five places.
Liverpool is fifth in the Premier League and has a five-point advantage over sixth with five games to play. However, Brighton, who are in sixth, have played an extra game.
After suffering exits from the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and the Champions League, silverware is unattainable for Liverpool this season. Finishing inside the top five is a must.
