Liverpool news and transfers LIVE: Antoine Semenyo twist, Marc Guehi latest, Schlotterbeck move

2 hours ago 27

Liverpool will be able to add more players to its roster in just a couple of days when the January transfer window opens and already there has been plenty of speculation about who could be targeted.

Antoine Semenyo, who has an $88 million (£65 million) release clause that can be activated from the first day of 2026, has been put forward as one option for Arne Slot.

It was suggested last week that Semenyo was heading to Manchester City, but the Daily Mail reported over the weekend that Liverpool could still be in contention.

Elsewhere, signing a center-back would be a good idea, and Marc Guehi is the obvious target. However, Crystal Palace may not be willing to lose its captain mid-season, even if that means getting a fee.

Borussia Dortmund ace Nico Schlotterbeck is another defender being linked with Anfield. Any move for the German, who is also being touted as an option for Bayern Munich and Barcelona, would likelier come in the summer rather than right now.

Antoine Semenyo latest

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo appears near-certain to be on the move in the next few days.

While it looked like he was heading to Manchester City, there were reports over the weekend that the Cherries expect Liverpool to come to the table for him as well.

That could well just be Bournemouth looking to hurry Manchester City up in any negotiations over how and when the release clause will be paid.

Liverpool, though, has long taken a look at Semenyo, who has been in good form this season. Signing another forward would be a positive for the Reds.
