Arne Slot was hoping that his Liverpool team had turned a corner with victories over Aston Villa and Real Madrid, but the Reds lost 3-0 to Manchester City in their final game before the November international break.
While Virgil van Dijk's goal should have stood and that would have made it 1-1 at half-time, Liverpool couldn't argue with not picking up any points. It was very much second best at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola praised Conor Bradley for his performance but the Liverpool right-back was given a tough time by Jeremy Doku. Ibrahima Konate, meanwhile, was unable to prevent Erling Haaland from scoring a header, even if the Norwegian saw a penalty kick saved by Giorgi Mamardashvili.
"Of course, everyone is disappointed," Slot said. "It was a very good start to the week, winning against [Aston] Villa and Real Madrid, but if you thought you already faced two strong opponents then Man City comes across, away at the Etihad. That is, for every team, difficult, including for us. They were by far the much better side in the first half."

Pep Guardiola praises Conor Bradley
Pep Guardiola praised Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley after watching him play against Man City yesterday.
"Today, Bradley, I'm really impressed with," the Catalan said following his 1000th match as a head coach.
"[Pep] Lijnders told me he can do everything — and I know how good he was with Vinicius and he handled it.
"He was aggressive with and without the ball. We tried to help him and he played an outstanding game."
