Liverpool next 5 fixtures after international break as Arne Slot faces crucial run

2 hours ago 22

Liverpool’s players will soon be reporting back to the AZA Training Centre as the international break draws to a close - and the Reds will be greeted with a crucial set of fixtures upon their return.

With the last set of World Cup qualifiers being played over the next couple of days in Europe, thoughts will soon be turning back to domestic matters as the Premier League and Champions League return.

It has already been a mixed break for Liverpool’s stars, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez suffering a heartbreaking end to their World Cup dream, while the likes of Florian Wirtz and Andy Robertson still have work to do over the next couple of days.

And once their international duties are done, the focus will switch to turning the Reds’ season around.

It has been a disappointing couple of months to say the least for Liverpool, with seven defeats in the last 10 games seeing Arne Slot’s side fall off the pace in the title race, exit the Carabao Cup, and still with work to do in Europe.

The next few weeks then will be crucial if the Reds are to rescue something from their current predicament, having dropped eight points behind Arsenal after the defeat to Manchester City.

Liverpool's next 5 fixtures

  • Nottingham Forest (H) - Premier League, November 22
  • PSV (H) - Champions League, November 26
  • West Ham (A) - Premier League, November 30
  • Sunderland (H) - Premier League, December 3
  • Leeds United (A) - Premier League, December 6

It's a huge few weeks that awaits Liverpool upon its return from the international break, and the Reds absolutely need to turn their recent form around over the coming games.

After a difficult run of games before the break, on paper at least, the next few fixtures present an opportunity to pick up some much-needed points in the Premier League, and strengthen their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Liverpool needs to get back to winning ways with home games against Forest and PSV up next. West Ham away presents a slightly tougher proposition compared to a few weeks ago with Nuno Espirito Santo now at the helm, but that still needs to be a game that the Reds are winning.

Sunderland has been a revelation so far this season, but the Reds need to make the most of home advantage there, while Leeds has had a mixed return to the top flight so far.

It is an absolute must for Liverpool to get back to winning ways over these next few games if it is keep its ailing title hopes alive. Arsenal faces Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Chelsea in its next three games, so it could be the ideal time to make up some ground on the Gunners, especially if they're without Gabriel Magalhaes now.

Liverpool simply has to start winning regularly again. Any more defeats over the next few fixtures may well signal the end of its title hopes once and for all.
