Liverpool's full injury and suspension list for game against Crystal Palace

3 hours ago 2

Liverpool is set to return to Premier League action on Saturday, preparing for a clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in London.

The Reds have been on fire, winning all five of their initial top-flight matches. Their midweek victory over Southampton on Merseyside ensured they kept their perfect record across all competitions, with seven wins from seven since the season began.

This remarkable streak has catapulted them to a five-point lead over Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table, kick-started their Champions League campaign with a win, and secured their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Arne Slot and his players will travel to London on Saturday to face a Palace side that defeated them in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium back in August.

Liverpool will be looking to secure a win and extend its lead over Arsenal to eight points before its title rival takes on Newcastle on Sunday.

However, Liverpool will have to navigate the game against Palace without some key players. Here, we delve into the latest injury and suspension news ahead of the Premier League match between Liverpool and Crystal Palace.

Injury - Giovanni Leoni

Giovanni Leoni could be out for around a year after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the win over Southampton.

Leoni was making his debut against the Saints, but now faces a lengthy recovery period. "He is not in a good place because he tore his ACL, which means he will be out around a year," Slot said on Friday.

"Being so young and coming to a new country and playing so well in your first game, it's very hard to take the positives," the Liverpool boss added.

"There is never a positive side, but you try to look at that, and that is that he is still so young and he has so many years still to go after he recovers from a terrible injury."

Expected return date: Next season

Suspension - Hugo Ekitike

Hugo Ekitike will be absent for Liverpool's clash against Palace due to suspension.

The striker was shown two yellow cards against Southampton, resulting in a dismissal, and will now serve a one-game ban, which sees him miss the trip to Selhurst Park.

Expected return date: Galatasaray (A) - September 30 - Champions League
