Liverpool will meet Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals next month following their comeback triumph over Galatasaray.

The Reds defeated the Turkish outfit 4-0 at Anfield on Wednesday night to progress 4-1 on aggregate, having lost the opening fixture 1-0 in Istanbul last week. The tie against PSG represents a repeat of last season's round of 16 clash, which the French club won on penalties following a 1-1 aggregate draw en route to winning the Champions League for the first time.

While the fixture dates are yet to be confirmed, the first leg is expected to take place on Wednesday, 8 April. The return leg is expected to be played on Tuesday, 14 April.

Liverpool's previous European encounters with PSG saw them triumph at home and suffer defeat away during the group stage of their successful 2018/19 Champions League campaign, whilst they also lost 3-0 away before winning 2-0 at home in the European Cup Winners' Cup semi-final in 1997.

PSG booked their place in the quarter-finals against Liverpool with a resounding 8-2 aggregate win over Chelsea. The defending European Champions won the opening leg 5-2 before dispatching Chelsea at Stamford Bridge 3-0 on Tuesday.

With the remaining quarter-finals now confirmed, Liverpool are aware they will face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the semi-finals should they beat PSG, presenting the intriguing possibility of encountering former player Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid beat Manchester City to advance, while Bayern Munich dispatched Atalanta.

On the other half of the draw, Atletico Madrid will take on Barcelona. While the former lost 3-2 in the second leg against Tottenham Hotspur, they advanced to the quarter-finals 7-5 on aggregate.

They will take on a Barcelona side that destroyed Newcastle United at the Nou Camp. Eddie Howe's side put up a fight at St. James' Park in the first leg and looked set to record a famous win over the Catalan side before a late Lamine Yamal penalty salvaged a draw for Barcelona.

Heading into half-time of the return leg, it was 2-2 on the night in Barcelona before Kieran Trippier fouled Raphinha in first-half stoppage time, with Yamal dispatching the ensuing penalty.

From there, Barcelona dismantled Newcastle, with Robert Lewandowski scoring a brace and Fermin Lopez and Raphinha adding goals, as Hansi Flick's side ran out 7-2 winners, 8-3 on aggregate.

The winner of Barcelona and Atletico's clash will take on Sporting Lisbon or Arsenal. The former produced a stunning comeback against Bodo/Glimt, overturning a first leg 3-0 defeat to win 5-0 at home in extra time.

Arsenal, meanwhile, booked their place in the quarter-finals with a win over Bayer Leverkusen, beating the German side 3-1 on aggregate.
