Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of one of the most exciting wingers in the world appears to get more difficult by the day, and Liverpool are not helping.
Yan Diomande has emerged as one of the most exciting young players in the Bundesliga and was also extremely impressive in the African Cup of Nations.
In the early stages of the January window, it was reported that Diomande was among the names at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist.
In fact, it was even suggested that Spurs were near the front of the queue to land the Leipzig star after holding talks with him, but the player stayed put at the Bundesliga club.

Tottenham have to battle several European giants to land Yan Diomande
One possible destination for the winger is Anfield, with CaughtOffside claiming a couple of weeks ago that Liverpool are in pole position to land the Leipzig star.
Additionally, the Spurs target himself has named Liverpool as his dream destination, and it turns out that the Reds are targeting a player of Diomande’s profile.
This is according to a new report in Football Insider, which claims that Liverpool are now ‘laying the groundwork’ to sign a forward who excels in one-v-one situations.
It is said that there is an acceptance at the Merseyside club that they need a direct forward who can dribble past players in the mould of Luis Diaz. Arne Slot’s men are exploring players aged 24 or below who fit that profile.
While the report does not directly name Diomande, it appears clear that he would be one of the names on their wishlist, given what reports have previously said about Liverpool’s interest in the Ivorian.
Spurs will have to battle a whole host of clubs across Europe for Diomande
Tottenham Hotspur will not only have to worry about competition from Liverpool for Diomande, but also a host of other clubs.
Pete O’Rourke claimed a couple of days ago that Diomande could be one of the most sought-after players in the summer window.
He also suggested that Leipzig’s asking price of £80m makes the 19-year-old a bit too expensive for the Lilywhites.
