Liverpool transfer news as $88M forward eyed in addition to Barcelona target

Liverpool transfer news as Arne Slot could make a move for an $88M winger and also steal in on a player being watched by Barcelona and Bayern Munich, among others

Liverpool might have now won three Premier League games in a row, but there is still more work to be done for Arne Slot across the course of the next few weeks and months.

Against Wolves, the Reds looked very much in need of more control. Liverpool was two goals ahead after Ryan Gravenberch and Florian Wirtz scored, but Santiago Bueno halving the deficit caused panic.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. A center-back is being linked, plus a forward — two fairly obvious positions to strengthen next month should the right opportunity arise.

Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund)

Liverpool and Bayern Munich have both joined the race to sign Borussia Dortmund center-back Nico Schlotterbeck, according to CER, who report that a move to the Camp Nou could now become complicated.

Borussia Dortmund has Schlotterbeck under contract until 2027, but there has been no sign of an extension yet.

The player is drawing interest from various parts of Europe as a result, with clubs in Germany, England and Spain all said to be keeping a close eye on his development.

At Anfield, there is a need to strengthen at center-back. Marc Guehi was targeted in the last window, and he could move for free next summer, but one addition may not be enough.

Ibrahima Konate, as things stand, is set to leave at the end of his deal, which expires at the end of the campaign. Joe Gomez is currently sidelined with an injury.

Liverpool.com says: Schlotterbeck appears to be a player in plenty of deman,d and he can almost have the pick of the clubs when the season ends. He could be a strong option for a number of sides around the continent.

Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund)

Liverpool is interested in signing Borussia Dortmund and Germany forward Karim Adeyemi, according to the Spanish outlet Fichajes. He is someone that the Reds have taken a look at in the past.

This season, Adeyemi has scored six goals in 22 appearances for the Bundesliga side and is said to be valued at around $88 million (£65 million). He was recently disciplined for reacting poorly to being substituted.

Liverpool.com says: Adeyemi clearly has talent, but he has never quite been able to pull things together. He is quick, skilful and can score goals, but needs to use his ability much more consistently to take the next step.

It is at a club like Borussia Dortmund where that should be possible, rather than once he has made the step up to Liverpool or somewhere else where the expectations are higher.
