Liverpool transfer news as Bradley Barcola linked and Darwin Nunez nears exit

1 week ago 18

Bradley Barcola caused a brief social media storm on Wednesday night, with reports claiming the Paris Saint-Germain winger is being considered for a summer move to Liverpool.

The attacker needs no introduction to fans after featuring in both legs of the last-16 Champions League ties against Liverpool last season - and he played every single match en route to PSG winning the tournament.

Barcola would help solve the Reds’ lack of options in the wide areas, but his signing would make it difficult for the club to bring in Alexander Isak and another center-back. That said, given his talent and age, Barcola feels like a prime candidate for FSG’s recruitment model.

The first report of Liverpool’s interest came on Wednesday via L’Equipe, which stated the Reds are considering other options amid the Isak pursuit, and Barcola had emerged as a possible candidate alongside Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

The report claimed Liverpool has been following Barcola “for a long time” and despite falling to fourth choice in the pecking order at the Parc des Princes, would not be available for less than €100 million ($117M/£87M).

Transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported similar on Barcola’s asking price and added that a “concrete bid” is set to follow.

But French reporter Fabrice Hawkins said a deal is not progressing and Barcola would need to indicate his desire to leave, which is yet to happen. Meanwhile no bid has been forthcoming from the Reds.

Then came The Athletic’s update, that Liverpool is “not currently considering a move” for the French international.

He is rated highly by the Reds, the report continued, but Liverpool is keen not to block Rio Ngumoha’s progression and there are currently no plans to add a replacement for Luis Diaz.

Darwin Nunez is reportedly close to an exit from Liverpool

The news comes as Darwin Nunez’s exit from Liverpool draws closer. The Reds have been in talks with Al-Hilal over a potential transfer for the former Benfica forward.

Fabrizio Romano claimed on Wednesday that the deal was all but done, with a verbal agreement in place between all parties.

Nunez’s fee will be €53M ($62M/£46M) plus add-ons, and he is now set to complete a medical before signing a three-year deal in Saudi Arabia.

That could hasten Liverpool’s move for Isak, who was forced to train by himself on Wednesday as the Newcastle United squad returned to training following its pre-season tour of the Far East.

With a move for Benjamin Sesko looking increasingly unlikely, Ollie Watkins, Nicolas Jackson, Yoane Wissa and Lois Openda are being considered by the Magpies, according to talkSPORT.
