Liverpool’s season has reached a crucial moment, and it’s one that could have a huge impact on any potential summer transfer business.

After a defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal, any hopes of silverware this season are now hanging by a thread, and Arne Slot continues to come under increasing pressure for his position.

He and his side may soon have to turn all focus on securing a place in next season’s Champions League, with Arsenal having helped out in that regard by securing an extra spot for the Premier League this week. Missing out on a place at Europe’s top table would have a big effect on what could be another important summer, given the need for more new signings.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the latest transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds.

Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid)

Liverpool has been contacted about the possibility of signing Eduardo Camavinga this summer, according to Sky Sport Switzerland.

It’s claimed that Real Madrid is open to selling the French international, with a price of €80 million ($93M) set for any potential suitors. Camavinga’s agents are said to have already taken matters into their own hands though, with Liverpool and Arsenal named among “several” Premier League clubs to have been contacted.

Saudi Arabia is also said to be watching the situation carefully, although any hopes of signing Camavinga are hindered by the 23-year-old not wanting to leave the Bernabeu.

Liverpool.com says: Camavinga does seem to be in a slightly odd situation at Real, where he doesn't quite make the first-choice XI, but he is generally one of the first names to be considered if any changes are needed.

That could be a slightly frustrating existence for a player, but every report that is written about him seems to suggest that Camavinga doesn't want to leave the Bernabeu. It's hard to imagine Liverpool spending that kind of money on one signing this summer as well, especially for a player who might not necessarily be a priority.

Marcos Senesi (Bournemouth)

Liverpool is among the clubs said to be in talks over signing Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi for free this summer, according to Caught Offside.

Senesi’s contract with the Cherries expires this summer, and the Argentine looks to be attracting plenty of interest. As well as the Reds, Chelsea and Tottenham are claimed to have made contact with the 28-year-old’s representatives.

It is suggested though that a move to Spain might be more likely, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid said to be leading the race for for the center-back.

Liverpool.com says: At 28, Senesi is probably not the sort of player Liverpool would usually go for. Considering he will be available for nothing this summer though, this might be one that's worth exploring.

If nothing else, he would bring an experienced option to a defense that will probably need that along with the incoming Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni. What's more, he's left-footed, something which Liverpool has been crying out for.
