Liverpool is set for a huge couple of months now as players return from the international break over the next few days.

The Reds are straight back into action with an FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City on Saturday, before heading to Paris for the first leg of their rematch with PSG.

Add to that the race for Champions League places for next season, and Arne Slot’s side has plenty of work to do to salvage what has been a dismal season so far - and how they finish could well shape how they approach the summer transfer window, which has taken on greater significance after Mohamed Salah’s decision to leave.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig)

RB Leipzig is working to renegotiate Yan Diomande’s contract at the club - although Sky Sports Germany reports that the young winger is “not unsellable”.

Diomande is one of the early names to have been tipped as a potential replacement for Salah at Liverpool. Although it’s said that Leipzig will need to sell players this summer, the 19-year-old is not one of the immediate names being considered.

In fact, Leipzig is said to have already spoken to the player’s representatives about renegotiating his contract to give him a performance-based salary increase. It’s also claimed though that several top European clubs are positioning themselves to make a move for Diomande, with Leipzig in no position to reject offers in the region of €100 million ($115M).

Liverpool.com says: Given some recent reports, spending that kind of money on one player does seem unlikely for Liverpool this summer. Then again, clubs will know the Reds are looking for a replacement for Salah, so they might not be able to avoid paying top dollar.

Given Diomande's age, it would be a bit of a risk for any club paying that kind of fee, considering he's not even through his first full season in one of Europe's big leagues. In an ideal world, Liverpool would let him stay at Leipzig for another year and then make a decision on him, but Salah's departure puts it in a difficult spot.

Arda Guler (Real Madrid)

Liverpool is facing competition from Arsenal and Chelsea for the signing of Arda Guler, according to TeamTalk.

The Reds are claimed to have maintained regular contact with the Real Madrid star, and are in a strong position should an opportunity present itself. However, Arsenal and Chelsea are said to have entered the picture.

Liverpool’s rivals are said to be eager to be kept informed of any developments, and are ready to act if Real shows any willingness to do a deal.

Liverpool.com says: Signing Guler would feel like a strange step from Liverpool considering Florian Wirtz is already in the building, and it's not like the German is that much older.

Guler is capable of playing on the wing, but it's not his natural position, and in any case, it's hard to imagine Real letting him go given his role does seem to be growing at the Bernabeu. At the very least, the Spanish giants would demand a huge amount.
