The Premier League has announced who will be officiating in the next round of fixtures as Andy Madley will take charge of Liverpool's game against Nottingham Forest at Anfield.
Liverpool hasn't played since the humbling 3-0 defeat away to Manchester City on Nov. 9, with the international break in full flow. However, Liverpool will look to restart the next domestic period strongly after losing seven of its past 10 games.
Forest beat Liverpool at Anfield last season, and was the first team to claim a Premier League victory over head coach Arne Slot. The action returns at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 22, and the officiating team has been announced.
Madley will referee the game, while Adrian Holmes and Simon Long will act as his assistants. Adam Herczeg will be the fourth official, and James Bell and Mark Scholes will manage the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
The match referee, Madley, is from Yorkshire and supports Huddersfield Town. The club is currently in League One, having been relegated from the Championship in 2024, despite having played in the Premier League as recently as 2019.
It feels like a must-win game for Liverpool, given recent results. The last time that Madley officiated a Liverpool game was at the end of last season, when Brighton won 3-2 at The American Express Community Stadium.
Slot won the Premier League with Liverpool in his first season, but has already surpassed the loss total from last year. Ahead of the latest defeat to City, Slot joked that Liverpool was consistent in its losses.
"We were actually very consistent, but the thing is, we were consistent in losing," Slot said. "We have to be consistent in doing things right.
"My only focus is on ourselves, and our focus is on consistency at the moment. We have lost a few games, as you know -- much more than we usually do. But we have now won two.
"Our focus is on improving and getting the players fit. And we will see where that leads to." Heading into the game, Liverpool had beaten Aston Villa 2-0 and silenced Real Madrid at Anfield.
City ended the small resurgence, but Liverpool has a favorable run after the international break. Premier League clashes against West Ham United and Sunderland follow back-to-back home games against Nottingham Forest and PSV.
Liverpool is also hoping to unleash a fully-fit Alexander Isak, as a lack of match fitness and minor injury issues have impacted his start. Isak came off the bench for Sweden during the international break, and Slot was hopeful when offering his latest update.
"He will train for the first time today with the team again after three weeks out," Slot said before the City defeat. "I said three weeks ago that his pre-season has ended. It's time for us to see where he is at.
"I have to come back to those words because if you are three weeks in rehab, that doesn't bring you back to the levels you were three weeks ago. Although our team have done a great job, you can't compare rehab with games of football or training sessions with the team.
"That's simply not possible. Again, I've to say give him some time."
