Liverpool youngster Kieran Morrison was spotted in first-team training on Thursday as Arne Slot’s side continues preparations for Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace.
The XI that starts at Selhurst Park should be relatively fresh, given Slot made 11 changes in midweek and allowed several key men to take the night off. The Liverpool boss brought in fringe members of the squad for the Carabao Cup victory over Southampton, and included a number of youngsters on the bench.
That group included Rhys Williams, Tommy Pilling, Kaide Gordon and Morisson, none of whom were introduced, although fellow youth-team player Jayden Danns was chucked on in the latter stages.
It appears that Morrison has stuck around with the first-team group. In a brief clip from Liverpool’s Kirkby training complex that was shared on social media by Sky Sports, Morrison was briefly spotted on two occasions.
It raises the possibility that the teenager may be included in the squad this weekend, although the Reds are not short of options even with Hugo Ekitike's suspension and Giovanni Leoni's injury.
Leoni wasn’t named in the squad against Everton in Liverpool’s last Premier League outing, while Ekitike’s place will likely be taken by Federico Chiesa. Trey Nyoni and Danns are also ahead of Morrison in the pecking order.
The 18-year-old, who has made five appearances for Liverpool’s youth teams this season, was linked with a summer move away from the club but remained with the Reds.
A Northern Ireland youth international, Morrison plays predominantly as a right winger, cutting on his stronger left foot.
The attacker played 27 times for Liverpool’s youth teams last season, scoring six goals and providing five assists.
Meanwhile, Slot will likely provide the latest team news on Friday and should give an injury update on Leoni, who is expected to remain on the sidelines following the knee injury he suffered against Southampton.
Palace has been boosted by the return to training of Ismaila Sarr and Yeremy Pino.
Saturday’s meeting at Selhurst Park will pit the only two remaining unbeaten sides this season against each other.
Palace hasn’t lost a game in its last 17, while Liverpool has won seven in a row in all competitions.
