Few players in recent years have struggled like Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The AC Milan midfielder’s career has been plagued with injuries, but he is hoping for a fresh start.
There are a lot of questions that can be asked about Milan ahead of next season. However, one thing that looks quite certain is that Loftus-Cheek will have a role to play. With less games, he should be able to manage his workload more, meaning he could return to his first-season self.
Of course, there are no guarantees of this, but Massimiliano Allegri has already spoken about utilising the midfielder.
Road to redemption
He will probably not be a starter for the Italian, but he provides a wildcard that few other players in the squad can. A technical midfielder also blessed with the physicality needed to be a complete threat.
Unfortunately, he also comes with a high injury risk, though the Diavolo will try to avoid this as best as possible. Speaking to Milan TV yesterday, he discussed last season and the new one ahead, as MilanNews relays.
How did it [the first training session] go?
“I feel good, we’re starting well: slowly but with hard work. I’m happy to be here with my friends.”

Allegri spoke a lot about you in the press conference…
“Yes? Did he speak well? [he laughs] Difficult season last year, I was injured and had appendicitis. Let’s hope this season goes much better.”
Is an additional Loftus a new purchase?
“This season I’m ready, very much so. I want to do well because last year was difficult: I want to do well for the fans, for us, for the club. Let’s hope!”
