Longo: Chances of Maignan renewing his Milan contract now down to 10%

Mike Maignan will soon receive a contract renewal offer from AC Milan, but as the latter are starting to realise, the chances of the goalkeeper renewing are very slim.

Maignan’s contract will expire at the end of the season and as a result, he has often been mentioned in the media recently. Milan are no closer to a contract renewal and as stated by Matteo Moretto recently, the goalkeeper will leave if nothing major changes.

As added by Daniele Longo in his latest YouTube video this afternoon, Milan havem’t decided the replacement just yet. Instead, they are evaluating several options – one of whom seems to be Hugo Souza – to understand which player could be the best for them.

The lack of a primary target isn’t just because of ongoing evaluations, but also because Milan intend to table a final contract renewal offer. Maignan should receive this at the beginning of January, potentially a little later, and it should be worth around €5m.

However, as the journalist continues, Milan are starting to realise that it might be too little too late for the goalkeeper. As things stand, the chances of him renewing his contract have decreased to 10%, which says a lot about the current situation.

In the meantime, Maignan has performed very well on the pitch this season and there are bound to be some good offers in the coming weeks. Not for Milan, but rather the 30-year-old as he can sign pre-agreements when just six months remain of his contract.
