Longo: Eight takeaways from Milan’s disappointing 2-2 draw against Pisa

AC Milan failed to extend their stay at the top of the standings, or at least they could now be leapfrogged, with a 2-2 draw against Pisa. The journalist Daniele Longo has shared eight takeaways from the game. 

After the win against Fiorentina, which saw them move to the top of the standings, Milan had the opportunity to defend first place against Pisa last night. However, instead of clinching what was an easy win on paper, they had to fight to get a point.

1. The squad lacks depth, and the alternatives aren’t even close to the starting eleven.
2. Milan are very dependent on Modric, who is magnificent.
3. The quality of the defence is a stumbling block for the Scudetto. We said it in the summer.
4. If Rafa is a problem, then bless the problems.
5. Athekame scores a good goal, but otherwise plays poorly. Very poorly.
6. Nkunku didn’t do well off the bench, like in Turin.
7. Gimenez is strong in my opinion and is working hard, but his lack of goals is starting to become a problem.
8. Ricci is too timid. Always a conservative play, he had a chance to play it forward for Rafa but didn’t feel like it.

The next game is scheduled for Tuesday and Atalanta will be the opponents, then the Rossoneri will be up against the likes of Roma, Parma and Inter. Considering the tough run of games, it stings even more that Max Allegri’s men couldn’t get all three points against Pisa.
