AC Milan have lost one of their more talented midfielders today, as Catanzaro are set to sign Mattia Liberali.
The handling of Liberali’s future is why Milan have lost one of their more talented midfielders. In the same bracket as Kevin Zeroli and Francesco Camarda, it was hoped that Liberali could be influential for the future.
However, this will not be the case, as he is leaving.
No friendlies
With no plans for the youngster set in stone, Liberali became less interested in a renewal, and with the relationship eventually broken, he opted to leave. Though he is not heading to a Serie A rival. Instead, he moves to Serie B with Catanzaro.
Reports have suggested that the Rossoneri had actually made a last-ditch effort to try and renew his deal after previously attempting to go back on the deal with Catanzaro. However, neither attempt was successful.
Now, Daniele Longo reports that the young talent is not on the travel list for the games against Premier League sides Leeds United and Chelsea. Instead, he will sign a deal with his new club until 2029.
With his move, the Diavolo will have a 50% sell-on clause, whilst also having bonuses in his deal in the case of Catanzaro’s promotion to Serie A.
