Longo: Milan will ‘definitely’ make January signing – the position most likely

AC Milan will ‘definitely’ make a signing during the winter window, Daniele Longo reports, but it is unclear what kind of profile.

Milan have started the season well under Massimiliano Allegri and at present a few of the new additions are shining. However, there are still only 19 outfield players in the squad (when all fully fit) and the depth is likely to best tested as the season goes on.

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com spoke to Radio Rossonera and he was asked about the possibility of a further boost for the squad in January through a potential signing.

“I think there will definitely be a signing in January, for me a defender. I don’t know if it’s a Kristensen-like profile for the future or Allegri is asking for a more experienced one, since all the central defenders are young and promising players anyway,” he said.

He is referring to Thomas Kristensen being a potential target. Having converted to playing as a middle centre-back with Udinese, there have been reports in recent weeks suggesting that Milan are not only monitoring his progress but have also scouted him in person.

At 23 years of age, he is one for the future, possibly as early as January given that David Odogu was the only central defender to arrive late in the window, after Manuel Akanji and Joe Gomez had been linked.
