Longo: Vlahovic ‘remains a priority’ as Milan evaluate January and summer options

Dusan Vlahovic never ended up joining AC Milan this summer but according to a report, the Rossoneri still have him in their sights for next summer or potentially even January.

The No.9 topic was a lively one for Milan this summer, with several strikers linked to the club. Vlahovic was one of them and although Milan explored a late move, they opted to go with Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea instead.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, despite the denials of the club, it’s true that a late attempt was made. Vlahovic, however, never opened up to the idea of reducing his salary and decided to respect the Bianconeri contract.

Tempting free transfer

Earning €12m for the final season with Juventus, which is around €22m gross, it’s easy to see why so many clubs were discouraged from signing the striker. Having said that, as Longo continues, Milan haven’t fully given up on Vlahovic.

The Rossoneri management are already keeping him in mind for next summer, when he will be available on a free transfer, and the same can be said for their city rivals Inter. It’s nothing more than interest at the moment, though, as Milan don’t want to disturb the player now, nor do they want to damage relations with Juventus.

A more remote possibility would be to make a move already in January, thus avoiding the inevitable contract bidding war in the summer. In any case, Vlahovic ‘remains a priority’ for Milan that they will pounce on if the conditions are right, as the journalist concludes.
